Yarra businesses are being invited to celebrate International Women’s Day with a lunch in Richmond next month.
The event is organised by Yarra Business and this year’s guest speaker will be nonprofit leader Gill Hicks.
Originally from Adelaide, Hicks moved to London in 1991 where she forged a career in the Arts sector, including being publishing director of design magazine Blueprint and head curator at the Design Council.
In 2005, Hicks was caught in the London bombings where she suffered serious injuries leading to both legs being amputated below the knee. Two years later, she set up the MAD for Peace Network, a not-for-profit group that encourages people to work for peace in their everyday interactions. This was work that she continued after returning to Australia in 2012 along with a range of public speaking engagements.
As well as the chance to hear from a leading businesswoman, the lunch will also provide networking opportunities for local business owners, so professional Business Cards are a must.
International Women’s Day was first recognised by the United Nations in 1975 and is marked around the world with special events celebrating the achievements of women in business, culture, politics, and social areas. The theme for 2016 is ‘Pledge for Parity’ and is designed to highlight gender inequality.
The lunch will be held at the Amora Riverwalk Hotel in Richmond on Tuesday, March 8. Tickets are $60.Get a Free Quote for Business Cards
