Upgraded Jack Thomas Reserve Pavilion re-opens

The new-look $4 million Jack Thomas Reserve Pavilion at Narre Warren was officially opened recently, heralding a new era for local sporting enthusiasts.

The pavilion is home to the largest soccer club in the City of Casey, the Berwick City Soccer Club, which has its Logo Design proudly on display. The new pavilion includes a community room, upgraded change rooms, office space, storage areas, a canteen and kitchen, public toilets and scorer rooms. It also incorporates a piece of public art called ‘The Den’, which is on display at the carpark entrance.

City of Casey Mayor, Amanda Stapledon, explained that the pavilion’s re-opening will allow the soccer club and other groups in the area to keep operating effectively while also providing an opportunity for participation by the city’s residents. She added:

“This new pavilion will support our residents to be active and healthy, and it’s what the members of our local sporting clubs deserve. These new upgrades will also mean that Jack Thomas Reserve is seen as a bigger draw card for hosting games and tournaments, due to its new facilities.”

The Mayor said she hoped the new upgrades would help encourage more people within the City to participate in sport and utilise the facilities on offer.

The upgrades were made possible through funding from the Environment, Land, Water and Planning Department’s Growing Suburbs Fund and the Community Sports Infrastructure Fund administered by Sport and Recreation Victoria.
