Narre Warren to celebrate contemporary cultural fashion

An exhibition focused on the modern incarnation of a traditional Indian garment is running at the home of arts and culture in Narre Warren.

Area residents with an interest in fashion and culture can attend this exhibition, which is called “The Offbeat Sari”. The major event pays tribute to the contemporary sari and unravels its wide array of Forms.

It also highlights how the sari is a metaphor for the complexities and layers of modern India and displays fine saris made by over 50 craftspeople, designers and wearers.

Organisers of art and fashion exhibits often work with skilled brochure printing services that can create supporting literature for visitors that supply further insights and information.

In recent times, the sari has experienced a reinvention. Cutting-edge designers are now experimenting with sari gowns, pre-draped saris and sari dresses and crafting them from innovative and unusual materials, including steel. While the sari was once associated with dressing up, it is now often seen worn casually, such as by commuters with running shoes.

The Offbeat Sari exhibition is running at Bunjil Place until Sunday, August 30 and is open to view between 10 am and 5 pm (Tuesday to Friday) and 10 am to 4 pm (Saturdays and Sundays). The arts centre is situated at 2 Patrick Northeast Drive in Narre Warren and admission to the exhibition is free for all.
