Equestrian event coming soon near Narre Warren

The 2014 Riding of the Bounds is sure to attract a great deal of attention, as horses and wagons are ridden through suburbs such as Cranbourne and Narre Warren, Victoria.

Residents are being urged to take part in the City of Casey’s 25th year of the 10km ride, which is held to honour a tradition that dates back 500 years in its sister town in the UK of Berwick-upon-Tweed.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Geoff Ablett said the local event will cover some of the city’s most picturesque countryside to the municipal boundary where Casey meets Cardinia.

He said it was an event horse lovers looked forward to each year, and one which attracted thousands of onlookers across the riding route.

All the fun kicks off at 8.30am on October 26th at the Hillcrest Christian College located in Soldiers Road, Clyde North. Participants, many of whom plan to dress up in full riding costumes, will mount their steeds and head off at 10.30am.

Such events make great subjects for local promotional materials such as brochure and postcard printing.

The registration deadline for entrants is October 17th and the cost is $86 for groups (minimum of 10 riders), $27 for individuals, and $43 for families (up to four riders).

An Australian-approved equestrian safety helmet must be worn by all riders taking part in the event.
