Cricket enthusiasts of all ages from Narre Warren, Victoria are being offered an opportunity to get into the swing of the game more often.
As part of the Open Wickets cricket grants programme, the City of Casey is subsidising fees for new players and those who have not previously taken part in a Cricket Victoria programme for a period of five years, to once again engage in the sport.
The programme permits eligible players to be reimbursed for 50% of junior fees in the T20 Blast or Milo In2Cricket programmes or $75 of playing fees as well as playing fees or $100 of student/senior fees.
Mayor Mick Morland praised the Open Wickets programme, which he said provided a great way to support and inspire locals of all ages to not only enjoy but also be involved in community sporting activities.
He said cricket at all levels attracted a great following throughout Australia and he was pleased Council, together with Cricket Victoria, could help people gain a start in the sport during the coming season.
Flyers detailing the programme have been distributed through the area, and Council is also inviting local cricket clubs to contact them if interested in becoming a partner in the programme.
Mayor Morland said the Open Wickets programme is only available from affiliated clubs. Grant applications close on November 23.Get a Free Quote for Flyers
