Competition hots up as business award nominees announced

An impressive line-up of local businesses will compete for top honours in this year’s Casey Cardinia Business Awards.

Introduced in an expanded format this year to cover both local government areas of Cardinia and Casey, the awards aim to celebrate and acknowledge the area’s outstanding businesses.

Keen interest was received from the more than 20,000 diverse businesses throughout the region, including vibrant centres such as Narre Warren, Victoria.

According to Cr Geoff Ablett, City of Casey Mayor, the commercial sectors hosted many success stories and the awards provided a vehicle by which many examples of the business operators’ hard work and achievements could be showcased.

He said the finalists were derived from close to 90 applications, with judges now facing the difficult task of selecting a winner in each of the categories, which include Agriculture and Primary Industries of the Year Award, Business and Professional Services, Health, Education and Wellbeing, Home Based Business, Hospitality and Tourism, Manufacturer, New Business, Retailer, Social Enterprise, and Trades and Construction of the Year.

Business types ranged from giftware, engineering, and vehicle sales to body works and bed and breakfast outlets.

Many of the finalists have built up a large clientele in the area, with regular marketing programs including brochure, catalogue, and flyer printing.

The 2014 award winners will be announced at the Cardinia Cultural Centre in Pakenham on October 9th.
