Environmental Sustainability Grants are now being offered by the City of Casey in Narre Warren.
According to the City’s Mayor, Geoff Ablett, the grants are a highlight of the council’s Sustainability Plan, which seeks a more sustainable future.
The grants were introduced to allow community groups, universities, childcare centres, kindergartens, schools, and businesses within the City of Casey to put forward projects to benefit the area’s cultural, built, and natural environment.
The program provides grants worth up to $2,000.
Ablett said that among the benefits of their Environmental Sustainability Grants are the great ideas that are unearthed.
He said each one had the ability to contribute to the City becoming more environmentally friendly.
A frog pond restoration and the use of indigenous plants to revegetate the habitat were directly attributed to the grant program in previous years.
Material to educate people on the environment has also been developed, as well as interpretative community arts. As a result, more environmental information produced by local printing companies is now available.
Ablett explained that those who would like to apply for the grant will find full details –including conditions, eligibility, assessment criteria and an online application form – on the council website. He urged everyone to act quickly if they had a good idea.
Submissions are now open, with round one closing on 9th May at 5pm.
