Under the watchful eye of Council staff, printing services have been busy in recent weeks preparing for the large Print run, which culminates in the delivery of over 100,000 Copies of the 2020 Geelong calendar to residents.
As in previous years, a competition was run to determine the 12 successful images to be featured. Photographers were invited to submit images taken within Geelong for the annual calendar competition, which this year attracted in excess of 1,100 entries.
Photographer Luke David’s image taken from Flinders Peak and featuring an outlook at sunset took prime position on the cover. His stunning imagery is no stranger to the pages of the Geelong calendar having been included previously in 2017.
Director of the Geelong Gallery, Jason Smith selected the winning image from what he described as a ‘simply outstanding’ standard of entries.
Geelong Mayor Stephanie Asher said a public vote helped to select the other images to be included with successful photographs featuring celebratory events, scenic horizons, wildlife, the environment, local historic sites and modern architecture. She added:
“The 2020 edition captures the many different parts of our region beautifully, and the four different categories this year mean there is great variety among the 12 photos featured.”
