For those looking for cause for celebration over the long weekend of the Melbourne Cup, the Pride Games will be a chance for participants to socialise and enjoy the activities, which will include sporting events to interest all comers.
Coinciding with the Geelong Pride Festival, there are prizes to be won at the Awards Day, music entertainment will be provided, and food and drink will be available. A fun run will be held towards the end of the weekend.
In a first for Geelong, the Games are run entirely by volunteers, with events including mini-golf, eight-ball, and table tennis, to name only a few. Sponsored by Diversitat, profits from the weekend will be used to produce other LGBTIQ events for the area. Known also by the title Geelong Ethnic Communities Council, Diversitat has been involved for 40 years as a not-for-profit registered charity delivering services and support to multicultural and disadvantaged communities in the Geelong and surrounding areas.
Banners, poster printing and Flyers are likely to be used in both the duration and the prior promotion of this event. The organisers are also welcoming suggestions and feedback on the event.
