The children’s charity 'Variety’ will team with the City of Geelong in the project to be undertaken at Rippleside Park.
Currently, the site is home to a playground that, with the aid of 1,500 volunteers and countless community resources, was established in 2001. Council now wishes to provide a replacement that will meet local community needs and be designed in a compliant and modern way.
Printing services have been busy preparing a survey that was released recently. It aims to determine what play equipment and experiences should be included in the facility’s design.
Greater Geelong Mayor Stephanie Asher said an amount of $100,000 has been allocated to come up with a suitable design for the play space, adding:
“This is intended to truly be a play space for every child in our region. It fits our vision of a healthy and socially connected community where everyone is welcome and given the opportunity to participate fully.”
The Mayor said that through creative and clever engineering and design, it is hoped the new play space provides a challenging and fun area for all youngsters to play together.
In an effort to ensure the play space reaches its full potential, a fundraising initiative has been launched by Variety involving individuals and businesses in Geelong.
