The City of Greater Geelong’s decision follows a scheduled programme of public consultation in which initial plans were put on display to generate community feedback, all of which was taken into consideration in the final, endorsed plan, according to Mayor Bruce Harwood. Organisations often use graphic design services to create plans for developments such as this.
Expressions of concern about potential changes to zonings from residents living in the rural area adjacent to Lovely Banks were heard and the area will remain a rural zone with no threat of high density development, at least in the near future.
Mayor Bruce Harwood said council is now working with local land holders and developers to put together more concise precinct structure plans, adding:
“It’s our plan that residents in these new areas will have easy access to high quality public transport plus bike and walking trails. They’ll also have some outstanding views across the region and the natural environment on their doorstep, with the quarry to become a huge lake, and rehabilitation of the local rivers.”
The plans will include many features ranging from Batesford quarry’s transformation into a major freshwater lake to the creation of employment hubs to help boost jobs for local residents.
