City of Greater Geelong residents will have the opportunity to attend Australia’s premier event, the National Celtic Festival, over four days next month.
On an annual basis, the event draws more than 15,000 people to the region over the public holiday long weekend in June. It begins on a Friday evening and finishes on a Monday afternoon. Attendees can expect a wide variety of experiences that depict the Celtic culture within Australia. Such a large-scale event can effectively be promoted in a community via flyer printing.
During the festival, a large number of venues, such as community halls, restaurants, cafes, and churches, are utilised across the town of Portarlington to showcase Celtic culture. Additionally, marquees are set up along the town’s foreshore for the Celtic Markets, the Celtic Club, the Wine Bar and the Village Stage. Support for the event is provided by the City of Greater Geelong through Geelong Major Events funding.
All ages and a range of cultural and family groups are catered for at the festival. Some activities are free, whereas others require tickets, and the activity list includes concerts, dance, theatre, stories, ceremonies, workshops and master classes. Venues are spread out in and around Portarlington, which is around a 90-minute drive from Melbourne.
The National Celtic Festival will run from June 11th to June 14th.
