Geelong residents can engage in community singing in an informal environment this April at the 2021 Sing Out session.
The session will be held by song leader Ceridwyn Gordon. It is being hosted by Sing Out Geelong Inc., which is a community organisation that encourages singing in a safe environment to allow participants to feel energetic, rejuvenated and passionate about music. People of all backgrounds are encouraged to attend, regardless of their skill level.
The organisation was founded in 2019 by a group of Geelong residents that wanted to foster more opportunities for group singing within the area. Songs of various musical genres are performed during the sessions, and they include folk, soul and pop songs. This initiative of group singing is supported by the City of Greater Geelong’s Community Support and Investment Fund.
Such community events can be promoted widely via flyer printing, with Flyers placed in highly frequented public places, such as shopping centres, community centres, schools and post offices.
The Sing Out Session will be held at the Geelong West Community Hub, which is located in West Park on 89 Autumn Street. The cost per session for each individual is $5. The event will run from 7.30pm to 9pm on Monday, April 19th. The venue is managed by the Geelong West Neighbourhood House, which can host up to 54 attendees whilst considering the two-square metre rule.
