The estate, which is located off Basin Rise and is being developed by Barwon Water, occupies three hectares and incorporates 30 housing lots plus two much larger apartment development sites. Sustainable living features are many and include bike storage, solar panels and charging points for electric cars.
Barwon Water's Seamus Butcher, who is strategy, systems and environment general manager, said the size of traditional housing blocks ranged up to 685 square metres and were expected to be released for sale by the end of the year. Brochure printing is often undertaken to advertise new estates such as Cumulus Highton.
Meanwhile, the two larger lots which are 2,069sqm and 3,027sqm respectively and assigned medium density to suit apartment developments are already on the market. Each sale will also include architect-designed plans for apartment complexes that are already approved.
Butcher said that creating an estate that offered greater diversity ranging from two bedroom properties with private gardens and common spaces to family-sized housing lots helped address concerns relating to housing affordability and added:
“The houses will also be energy efficient (with a minimum 7.5-star NatHER rating), with solar panels and provision for electric car charging.”
The estate is located close to Christian College and Epworth Hospital.
