More jobs created as French firms move in

Two French companies are set to join others like Renault in Geelong in establishing headquarters within Victoria.

Economic Development Minister, Tim Pallas told attendees at a recent business breakfast of the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce that 65 jobs are expected to be created when Total Eren and VISEO each set up a base in Melbourne. He added:

“Time and again businesses are choosing Victoria to set up shop – and that’s no coincidence. It’s a vote of confidence in the strength of our innovation sectors, our strong economy and capacity for growth – and it means more jobs.”

He said VISEO, a tech company, is making the move to assist with its drive for sale and increased brand awareness in both New Zealand and Australia. Having a base in Australia has the potential to boost recognition of its Logo Design and services.

It is expected that about 50 jobs will be created during the next five years based around building and designing products, as well as delivering services in project management to assist customers in their transformation to a digital format.

Pallas said the tech sector is thriving in Melbourne with companies such as Alibaba, Square and Zendesk already well established.

Total Eren, meanwhile, specialises in global renewable energy and will be relocating its large Singapore headquarters, second only to its Paris office, to Melbourne. Job creation is estimated at 15. Total Eren follows the investment in Victoria of other renewable energy firms such as Iberdrola and Tilt Renewables.
