A change of venue to Johnstone Park will be implemented for next year’s event, which combines live music and exquisite local food with an afternoon that features a focus on the education and appreciation of craft beer. City of Geelong Mayor Bruce Harwood was excited about the new venue saying:
“Johnstone Park is a much-loved location in our CBD and shapes as the perfect Great Australian Beer Festival venue, with easy access to public transport and plenty to do nearby for those wanting to continue their celebrations afterwards.”
He said the festival itself was an important part of the local events calendar as it effectively built awareness about the burgeoning craft beer industry in Geelong and showcased many top brewers. The 2019 festival, held earlier this year, featured 12 local breweries among 37 from around Australia.
Festival Director Kieran Blood said next year’s event will showcase about 200 ciders and beers within the picturesque park setting and include interactive workshops and seminars to promote greater appreciation and understanding about craft beer.
Many brewers, both local and interstate, often have Business Cards and information available to hand out to interested visitors who will have many opportunities to engage with them.
