The Leukaemia Foundation brings together the community in support of people affected, directly or indirectly, by blood cancer. Light the Night will happen in over 140 locations around the country to raise funds in the fight against leukaemia.
According to the Leukaemia Foundation website, the event is a:
“…beautiful evening lantern walk, where Australians come together and transform the darkness into a sea of glowing light to beat blood cancer.
“The night will take your breath away. It’s an empowering, beautiful and supportive event that brings family and friends together with a united goal: to fund research that will help beat blood cancer.”
Three lantern colours are available, gold for those who have lost the battle, white for a personal fight, and blue to show your support for everyone affected by the disease. Visitors will receive the lantern at the event registration desk.
The Geelong event invites the community to register, light up a lantern, walk and reflect on the cancer battle, and give support in beating blood cancer. The event will be held at Johnstone Park, Geelong, on 21 September 2018
Light the Night culminates on 05 October 2018 where an estimated 35,000 people will gather in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
Light the Night welcomes volunteers to help in the campaign. These events usually require professionals with specialist skills like photographers and videographers during the event. Pre-event assistance to raise awareness for the campaign, like flyer and poster printing services, can also contribute to the activity goals.
