Residents of Geelong will not have to miss out on the 2020 Word for Word National Non-Fiction Festival, as organisers have reformatted the event as an entirely virtual program.
The festival aims to showcase the best and brightest of Australian thinkers and writers, and will feature well-known and respected names including Virginia Trioli, former Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove, Meg Keneally, Heather Morris, Robert Dessaix, John Wood, Louise Milligan and Jean Kittson.
The theme for the festival in 2020 is ‘Life, Changing’, a fitting theme considering the events of the year and the COVID-19 restrictions in Victoria.
The festival is Australia’s only non-fiction writing festival, and this unique event not only showcases all Forms of non-fiction writing, but also features panel discussions and many ‘in conversation’ sessions with renowned writers.
Books discussed during the event will be available to purchase from the festival website, and this year, three children’s sessions have been added to the programme. Authors sometimes use Graphic Design Services to produce striking book covers to attract a reader’s attention.
The festival will run from Friday, November 20 until Sunday, November 22, with a variety of events and workshops each day. For those participants unable to view a session live, access to the sessions will be available on-demand 48 hours after the end of the session.
