The National Wool Museum in Geelong has re-opened its shop and galleries to the public with two new exhibitions for visitors to experience.

We, The Makers is an exhibition that features unique creations from fashion designers around the globe. It will showcase 21 creations which are environmentally and ethically created by both first-time designers and established creators. Eight of the designers represented in the exhibition hail from the local area. The exhibition hopes to highlight waste and the problems it causes, with an average of 28 kilograms of clothing being thrown out each year by Australians. To represent this, a huge pile of discarded clothing is part of the display.

The other exhibition is Now You See Us by Mary-Jane Walker. It showcases the endangered birds within the Geelong region. She describes her life-size birds as vegan taxidermy as they are meticulously crafted by hand from old magazines, newspapers and art paper. Mary-Jane has completed 15 species that are endangered and these are on display at the museum. She describes her work as an intersection of art and science and she takes pride in knowing that her work highlights the need for society to become more environmentally conscious.

The National Wool Gallery is following Covid-19 safety measures and will allow a maximum of 20 visitors at one time. Galleries and Museums may make use of banner printing to advertise their attractions to the public.
