Geelong Gallery offers virtual tour

Residents of Geelong can soak up some culture from the comfort of their armchair thanks to the Geelong Gallery’s new virtual tour through its current and permanent art exhibitions.

The gallery is currently closed due to the lockdown restrictions in place in Victoria and the 360-degree tour aims to keep visitors engaged with the arts while remaining safely at home.

The role of the arts in society has long been acknowledged as necessary for well-being and for allowing people to engage both with the art displayed and with other people. The gallery features art works by contemporary Australian artists including Kate Beynon and Jacky Redgate. Galleries often use printing services to advertise upcoming exhibitions and promote permanent artworks housed in the gallery.

The gallery’s website offers plenty of information about past and present exhibitions and recipients of previous art awards are featured with their wining artworks.

Also on the website are several videos from the gallery curators speaking about the gallery's current exhibitions, including head curator Lisa Sullivan speaking about the Kate Beynon exhibition, entitled ‘Kindred Spirits’, which is a feature of the virtual tour.

The gallery also offers an online shop stocked with art activities to keep artists of all ages busy and creative as well as traditional souvenirs such as Posters, Postcards and prints. The gallery’s website has more information for those interested in taking the tour.
