Support for Geelong, Victoria becoming more environmentally sustainable is being evidenced by the increased size of the recently released Sustainability Directory.
Launched by Portfolio Holder for Environment and Sustainability Cr. Andy Richards, the directory’s second edition has doubled in size. It now features more than 500 eco-businesses, environmental service providers and community organisations.
Cr Richards said the latest directory highlighted the growing number of environmentally aware organisations and businesses servicing the Geelong population, many of which often also promote this fact via Brochures and Stationery printing.
He said by supporting projects such as the Sustainability Directory, the Council was ensuring the City was well positioned to become one of the most sustainable cities in the world.
Cr Richards described the directory as a “handy” resource, especially for consumers who were likely to make purchase decisions based on the environmental sustainability of a firm’s products and services.
He said the content of the directory had also been expanded in the latest edition to cover surrounding shires, as well as to include more categories. This, he added, was to better align it with the 10 One Planet Living principles adopted by Geelong Sustainability last year.
Local community group Geelong Sustainability is responsible for producing the Sustainability Directory, with the Principal Partner being the City of Greater Geelong.
Copies of the latest directory will be available from regional libraries and Customer Service Centres throughout Geelong.
