Geelong celebrates new businesses with incubator showcase

Several new organisations are set to join Geelong’s local business scene, as start-up launchpad Runway celebrates their 16th Incubator Showcase Event.

Attendees have the opportunity to support the launch of these new business owners and vote for their favourite start-ups over dinner, drinks and dessert.

The event will kick off with a brief networking session and refreshments before the formalities begin. Before the main showcase, attendees will have the chance to hear from Runway’s youth entrepreneurs school program, as well as three incubator alumni. These alumni have the chance to win $5,000 based on their ‘where are they now’ presentation.

The main showcase will begin at 7 pm, featuring pitches from each of the new start-ups, interspersed with live music. Attendees will then have the opportunity to vote for their favourite, with the winning business receiving a cash prize. The event will conclude after the announcement of winners, with another networking session, offering attendees the chance to congratulate and hear more from the incubator cohort over drinks.

Start-up incubators are a great way for aspiring entrepreneurs to launch the first stages of a business project. These first steps can include everything from forming initial relationships and developing prototypes, to setting up team workspaces and business card printing.

The Runway Incubator Showcase will take place at the Geelong Arts Centre from 5:30 pm on Thursday, 3 July.
