A special tribute to Australia’s fighter pilots and airmen who served in the First World War will be a feature of the Australian International Air Show to be held in Geelong, Victoria.
The event, tagged Heroes of the Sky, will mark the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli Campaign and will be the first of many special celebrations planned to honour the Anzacs in 2015.
Organisers claim the spectacular will be a once-in-a-lifetime event that will include historic warbirds from Australia and oversees.
It will feature World War One replicas performing simulated attack manoeuvres and dog fights.
The airshow attracts a wide following from throughout the community, including aviation enthusiasts, corporate businesspeople and defence force members.
During its staging, the runway becomes the centre of a host of trade exhibits and aerobatic displays, and the thousands of visitors who attend the event each year have an opportunity to walk around and check out the many types of aircraft on show. Those attending may even spy some examples of old aviation-themed poster printing.
The 2015 Air show, to be held from February 24th to March 1st, will also present some of the latest attack helicopters and supersonic jet fighters along with precision stunt performers and a number of experimental, classic and vintage aircraft.
According to organisers, the sheer volume of aircraft on the ground and in the air is certain to appeal to all enthusiasts.
