Central Geelong offers community chance to talk to the police

A coffee with a cop event will be held in Geelong in April.

Geelong community members will have the opportunity to sit down with a police officer over a hot cup of coffee and ask them any questions they may have regarding police matters, community issues or even what life is like for police officers working in their job. By initiating this event, police are reaching out to provide a non-confrontational opportunity for residents to raise issues that concern them.

Coffee with a Cop is a community focused event to help build bridges and promote positive relationships between police officers and community members. Barriers can often develop between community members and police as a result of misunderstandings or painful experiences.

Holding these casual events in a relaxed setting helps to build trust and provide an opportunity to take part in productive conversations that educate and offer understanding to both parties. Events like this are easily promoted through flyer printing campaigns.

The Geelong Coffee with a Cop event is hosted by the Geelong Police Department and will take place at Little Malop Central on Little Malop Street in Geelong. The event runs from 1pm-3pm on 14th April. The first fifty people to sit down for a conversation with a cop will receive their coffee for free.
