Owned by the City of Geelong, the venue at Eastern Beach is being operated by café connoisseurs The Mulberry Group who have dubbed it Beach House Geelong and signed a lease for 10 years. Its reopening comes four years after the former restaurant suddenly closed its doors.
The new takeaway kiosk and café is providing a daily service for summer holiday patrons who can enjoy a bite to eat or a drink until 9pm. Private events can also be held in a designated function space on level two of the 1930s building.
Mayor Geelong Stephanie Asher welcomed the new operator, who is renowned for running cafés and said his reputation will be a big drawcard for visitors and residents alike, adding:
“Eastern Beach has long been a focal point for swimming, socialising and other outdoor activities; it can now add first-class food destination to its list of features.”
She said the Beach House’s reopening will raise the vibrancy and quality of a place that has long been popular in Geelong. New dining outlets such as this often enlist the support of printing services to help spread the word about the food and facilities now on offer.
