Community help guide Kingstons future

Residents of the City of Kingston, including Braeside, have contributed to a Community Vision recently presented to the council.

The Vision, which focuses on building one of the state's most sustainable and liveable cities, was put together by panel of community representatives and included feedback from thousands of people who work and live in the area.

Mayor of Kingston Steve Staikos said the Community Vision was well received by the council and will help guide its members as they strive towards creating a city that will meet the aspirations and needs of current and future residents. He added:

“The panel spent more than 2000 hours developing the vision and recommendations for our strategic plans that will ensure Kingston is the best place to live, work and play now and into the future.”

The Vision puts a focus on embracing innovation, thriving businesses, the protection of the area's natural environment, resilience, diversity and inclusiveness.

The community panel that developed Your Kingston Your Future devised a Vision statement, as well as providing recommendations for a series of strategic plans to help in its enactment by the council.

Projects that seek community input such as this have often been the subject of strategic flyer printing campaigns to spread awareness and attract interested participants.

Now completed, the Vision will help the council draft a four-year plan based on the city, its wellbeing and public health, as well as an added plan to manage its assets and finance over the next decade.
