Braeside residents will be in a front row seat to hop on board what is being billed as the boldest and biggest of the City of Kingston’s public art programmes.
The programme will take participants on a curated bus tour through the City of Kingston’s history and will feature performance and sculpture works, a video, new music. Exhibitions and performances such as this often use brochure printing services to provide informational materials to visitors.
The Kingston Arts Centre will be the set off point for buses that will then visit six public artworks with each representing a response to some of Kingston’s most bizarre and interesting stories dating back to the 1970s-80s.
The voice of renowned actor Michael Caton will be heard telling the stories related to each of the six locations visited during the two-hour experience.
The bus tour is called ‘Six Moments in Kingston’ and will include highlights such as a celebration of Rick Springfield, who was raised in the local suburb of Parkdale and went on to win a Best Male Rock Vocal Performance Grammy Award for his hit ‘Jessie’s Girl’.
The artists inspired to produce the works include animator and video artists Laresa Kosloff, Shane McGrath – a performance artist, Steven Rhall - conceptual artist, Field Theory - multidisciplinary collective, Spiros Panigirakis – artist and curator, and Tal Fitzpatrick – craftivist.
The bus trips will run four times a day on May 19, 20, 25 and 26.
