Whitehorse parking excels at 2019 awards

Box Hill South residents are among many locals to be enjoying top car parking facilities servicing shoppers in Harrow Street.

The Harrow Street Car Park, which is run by the City of Whitehorse, has been named among the finalists in this year’s Parking Industry Awards in the Outstanding New Car Park category.

CCTV cameras are located through the car park, which has been upgraded to include 271 more spaces for a combined tally of 562 as well as charging stations catering for 4 electric vehicles, 12 motorcycle spots and 12 bicycle racks.

Mayor of Whitehorse Sharon Ellis was delighted with the local team’s success, saying:

“Whitehorse City Council’s Major Projects team, in conjunction with the assigned architects, designed a car park that’s highly functional in its use of space yet understated in its visual presence through clever integration with the environmental surrounds.”

She said the aim of the awards is to showcase the industry’s dedication to raising the bar for parking facilities through acknowledging exceptional contributions and best practice.

Whether visiting retail outlets or Print shops within the commercial district, parking has always been of major importance. Parking Australia President Sharon Prior was impressed with the quality of entries, which she said demonstrated a commitment to providing the public with the best parking possible.

Industry professionals judged the 2019 Parking Industry Awards, for which 30 finalists have emerged across seven categories.

A special awards dinner this Thursday, November 28, will reveal the award winners.
