The 120 metre Ferris wheel, which affords views across the city skyline, could be open in a matter of weeks. People from Box Hill South and all across Melbourne will no doubt be noticing Posters, Banners and Flyers around the re-launch.
It has been more than five years since the wheel was closed. Back in 2008, cracks were seen developing on the construction. With safety fears rising, the decision was made to carry out a structural overhaul.
After years of work, final tests will decide whether the attraction is fit to reopen. However, these are not likely to be completed until December comes to an end, with the operator of the 40-storey high wheel advising that the weather will play a major role in the completion of the tests.
A spokesperson said:
"We are now well into the commissioning process, which is the final stage before opening but some activities do remain weather-dependent."
People have been advised to keep their eyes open and look for local news bulletins for the grand reopening of the wheel, as printing services launch into action.
Providing a ride lasting 30 minutes, the wheel gives those taking trips views across Melbourne. Looking out from its Docklands location, viewers can cast their eyes over the central business area, Port Phillip Bay, the Dandenong Ranges and many more sites of interest.
