Major boost to Victorian TAFE places

Box Hill South residents will be among many set to benefit from the opening up of 10,000 extra training and TAFE places across Victoria.

The City of Whitehorse is home to Box Hill TAFE, which attracts many students keen to build new skills or re-skill.

Premier of Victoria Daniel Andrews said there was no better time than now to explore TAFE options, following State Government funding to allow available places to be boosted by 10,000. His words were echoed by Skills and Training Minister Gayle Tierney, who added:

“We all know that workers in sectors like healthcare, hospitality and early childhood are in high demand right now so these extra places will mean more Victorians have a chance to get the skills they need for the job they want.”

VET courses and the government's free TAFE courses are able to be selected by Jobseekers under the latest funding boost. Those already holding a degree but wanting to seek another qualification can also apply for one of the new training places.

Study opportunities such as these are often the focus of flyer printing campaigns circulated throughout local areas to ensure the news reaches as many potential students as possible.

The most favoured TAFE courses in 2020 included allied health assistance, nursing and mental health, while an estimated 100,000 people have also taken advantage of the government's ‘Free TAFE’ courses since their introduction three years ago.
