The centre re-opened last December after extensive refurbishment and, since then, more than 700,000 visits have been made. Over $30m was spent on the redevelopment, which has also been a finalist in several engineering excellence awards.
Whitehorse’s mayor, Councillor Andrew Munroe, said the centre had far exceeded expectations. He explained:
"Hundreds of thousands of people have chosen Aqualink Box Hill for their health and wellness or recreation needs which goes to show what an innovative and modern facility it is.
“In its first year of operation, Aqualink Box Hill has already introduced a range of new initiatives in order to adapt its services to the needs of the community, which is great to see.”
The centre has five heated swimming options, including an outdoor pool and a family friendly play area.
It also offers more than 100 exercise classes such as Zumba and Pilates each week, houses a large gymnasium with equipment for weight lifting and cardio exercises, and courts for games including badminton and basketball.
With so much to offer, the centre might like to consider flyer printing to promote the activities to residents of Box Hill South, and encourage even more visitors in the next year.
The centre will officially mark its first anniversary on Tuesday, December 16th.
