Great architecture to be showcased in Box Hill

Residents in Box Hill South and around the City of Whitehorse are being encouraged to nominate their favourite buildings for a design award.

The Built Environment Awards celebrate the best architecture from around the area, and reward developers and architects who think carefully and creatively about their projects.

There are eight categories to choose from, including both commercial and residential dwellings. The awards are open to both renovated or existing buildings and new builds.

Three projects will be shortlisted for each category before the final winners are chosen.

In addition, the City of Whitehorse Mayor will choose the winner of the Mayor's Award for a design that reflects the council's values, and residents will be able to vote for a People's Choice category.

In the 2013 awards, a Box Hill South property won for landscape design, while the Box Hill area scooped several other categories, including the Commercial Development section for Platform 3 Cafe at the Box Hill Centro Shopping Centre.

Winning firms could use the award as part of a marketing strategy, adding the title to material produced through Stationery printing to tell future clients of the recognition.

Nominations for the awards are open now and will close on Monday, February 16th, 2015. The winners will be announced during Sustainable Living Week in March. For details of how to nominate, visit the City of Whitehorse Council website.
