The Victoria Government initiative is part of Youth Fest 2022, which celebrates the state's young people. Youth Minister Ros Spence said the grants will help successful applicants to deliver more than 100 youth-led activities and events during the festival, which is to be held throughout September, adding:
“Victorian Youth Fest will give young people the opportunity to embrace their creativity, make their voices heard and celebrate with their community.”
Spence said the event will help many reconnect and move forward after the pandemic.
The grants are available for local councils, schools and organisations within the youth sector and will enable them to work with other youth aged 12 to 25 to put on hybrid, digital and face-to-face events that provide an ideal opportunity to expand networks, share ideas and showcase skills.
With $2,000 grants on offer, planned events during the Victorian Youth Fest will be able to target its demographic both during holidays and the school term in September.
Flyer printing campaigns have often been implemented to advertise festivals such as this and boost potential participants.
Last year, the grants programme provided funding for 97 recreation, music and art activities, sporting events, and community and cultural festivals. Applications for the 2022 grants close on 29 April.
