Focus on Whitehorse seniors during October

The City of Whitehorse’s older residents are in the spotlight next month with a series of events designed to interest and celebrate seniors.

Box Hill South locals will be able to try a number of activities without having to travel far.

For those who like to be active, Box Hill Aqualink will be running a set of classes designed especially for older people. Creative types will enjoy the exhibitions at Box Hill Community Arts Centre, including a needlework show and a display from the hand spinner and weaver group, while food lovers can take part in a tour of Box Hill Asian food markets.

One of the most popular activities will be the Festival Luncheon held at Box Hill Town Hall on Tuesday, October 7th. Bookings for this open on Monday, September 15th, and tickets are limited.

The main event will be the Positive Ageing Expo held in nearby Nunawading on Thursday, October 2nd. The free expo will feature a range of presentations on ageing healthily and information about the services available to older residents.

Interested residents should look out for poster printing advertising the events, or the full programme can be found on the City of Whitehorse council website.

Seniors Month runs throughout October at a range of venues across the City of Whitehorse. Some events need to be booked in advance and have a small charge.
