Council calls on performers to take part in 2015 Global Fiesta

Potential performers and participants in this year’s Global Fiesta are being sought by Whitehorse City Council.

The council has called on interested parties from throughout the city, including Box Hill South, Victoria, to register their interest in the annual event.

Councillor Helen Harris said the major Fiesta was on track to be one of the best and biggest ever held. As in previous years, craft, art, food, music and dancing will be featured on the extensive programme of events.

Cr Harris said the Global Fiesta represented the council’s Harmony Day and not only celebrated, but also showcased the city’s diverse cultural history by incorporating art, food and various traditions.

The call for talented people to join in the celebration would add another dimension to what is already on offer, she said.

Cr Harris further explained how the Fiesta also provided social and community groups with an opportunity to fundraise, build awareness of their services by providing information at the stalls, and to potentially attract new members. Participants would also be able to showcase their skills.

A comprehensive program of games, music, food and entertainment from around the world has been put together for the event. A Global Fiesta Passport will also be available for children, who can collect Stamps by taking part in a host of cultural activities.

The Global Fiesta, to be held on March 15 at the Box Hill Gardens, is expected to be the subject of flyer and poster printing throughout the City of Whitehorse.
