Christmas comes to Box Hill South

It may still be more than a month until Christmas, but retailers in the City of Whitehorse are being encouraged to get into the festive spirit now.

The City of Whitehorse Council and the Whitehorse Business Group have just launched the annual festive window-dressing competition, which aims to get local businesses to embrace the Christmas retail season.

Box Hill South business owners who want to join in with the competition could ask a printing company to help them create a stunning backdrop for their Christmas window. They can also get help from the Council's Business and Economic Development Unit’s Visual Merchandising handbook, which offers various practice tips.

Retailers can be nominated by customers, other businesses, or nominate themselves. Nominated companies will be judged by a panel, whose members will consider how creative and original the display is, how well the shop's products are featured, and overall presentation.

The winning firm will receive a cash prize and a touchscreen laptop, while the runners-up will receive gift packs. The top three companies will also be given membership of the Whitehorse Business Group for the coming year.

The competition opens next week and runs until Tuesday, December 9th.

Nominations can be made online via the Whitehorse Business Group website, or by completing the printed copy of the nomination form that will appear in the Whitehorse Leader newspaper on Monday, November 17th.
