Box Hill Institute among top training award finalists

A local training provider near Box Hill South has become a finalist in the Victorian Training Awards.

Box Hill Institute has received award finalist berths including Large Training Provider of the Year and Inclusive Training Provider of the Year, while its Diploma of Sport Development student Josh Allison is a finalist for Vocational Student of the Year.

The awards, being held for the 67th time, acknowledge the achievements of teachers, students, apprentices, employers and trainers and, according to Training and Skills Minister Gayle Tierney, will this year also recognise the sector's innovation and resilience during the challenging Covid-19 pandemic. She added:

“We had a record number of nominations for this year’s event – which goes to show how successful the Victorian TAFE and training sector is.”

The local finalists are among 44 named across six individual, four training organisation and four employer award categories representing regional and metropolitan Victoria.

Brochure printing campaigns and local media are often enlisted to help spread the word about major opportunities and competitions such as the annual training awards, which this year attracted the best response in a decade.

Prize money of $5,000 will be received by top award recipients and selected award-winners will also have a chance to represent the State at the national Training Awards event, to be held later in the year.

Other businesses and institutions within the top 44 finalists are located in key regional training centres such as Warragul, Geelong and Bendigo.
