X Factor winner receives keys to the city

X Factor 2013 winner Dami Im recently received the keys to Logan City during a special presentation in her honour.

The rising legion of `Dami Army’ fans from towns across the region, including Slacks Creek, were able to show their support at the event with the help of banner printing companies.

Heralded as the newest pop icon, she was excited to hold the key to her hometown and said it was something she could never have imagined would happen.

This latest accolade topped off a great year for the dynamic vocalist who won the fifth season of X Factor, signed with Sony Music and released her winner’s single `Alive’, which debuted at number one on the ARIA Singles Chart.

She followed it up in November with her self-titled album and completed the feat of releasing two chart toppers in a row. The album featured songs from her performances on the series.

The album brought her dual success, being one of only 13 Australian recordings to hit the top of the charts in the past 12 months.

Im also starred in the X Factor Live Tour across Australia last month, with fellow contestants including runner-up Taylor Henderson, Jai Waetford, Third Degree and Jiordan Tolli.

Instant fame has launched the multi-talented singer, violinist and pianist onto the world stage, with poster printing in full swing to advertise her upcoming performances.

Logan Lord Mayor Pam Parker said it was only fitting to recognise the singer’s inspirational achievements and determination, adding that Im set out with a dream and proved that anything was possible.
