Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk officially opened the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC) recently, saying it will provide superior training for young apprentices in industries that have high demand.
The facility, which has also benefitted from a $4m state government grant, will be able to cater for an estimated 700 apprentices and prepare them for work in the mechanical services, fire protection and plumbing industries.
The Premier explained that the PICAC Beenleigh Training Centre would also help to train about 100 air conditioning and heating ventilation apprentices as well as a further 100 pre-apprenticeship trainees. She added:
“It is delivering the best possible training to prepare our tradies for life in the workforce, a key focus of my Government’s Queensland Skills Strategy. In the current 2019-20 financial year, we are investing $978 million in training and skills.”
Palaszczuk said that through facilities such as the Training Centre at Beenleigh, tradies were being given an opportunity to not only prepare, but also reskill or upskill in their chosen careers. Business Cards are often pivotal in helping tradespeople to raise their profiles in the local area.
