Off-road RC enthusiasts in the area of Slacks Creek may well wish to sign up and try their hands at the Logan Off Road RC Club Day in May. Local brochure printing for events such as this often includes advertisements and articles on that may be of interest to hobbyists.
Radio-controlled cars (RC cars) are miniature model cars that use a transmitter or remote control to move them. RC cars generally fall into two categories, electric or fuel-powered (also referred to as “nitro” models). Nitro models often appeal as the sound is more akin to a full-size vehicle, although they do require intensive cleaning to remove the unburnt oil from the chassis after racing.
Off-road versions of both types of RC cars have the requisite tough suspension and wide tyres. At the club day, there are classes for both electric and nitro vehicles of the 1/8th size, with scope for a 1/10th size if there is a sufficient number. The competition on the day consists of a practice, qualifying rounds and then finals in both classes.
The Logan Off Road RC – Club Day takes place on Tuesday, May 13 at The Brickyard, Soccer Drive, Slacks Creek, QLD. The cost to take part is either $15 for members or $20 for non-members. The canteen will be open for light refreshments.
