Design excellence will reap the ultimate reward in Logan City Council’s latest award challenge.
The Logan Urban Design Awards have been introduced to recognise and find the city’s outstanding minds in the areas of architecture, urban planning and design.
The entries will cover a wide range of settings and environments within the Logan City boundaries, stretching from Springwood to Slacks Creek in Queensland.
Division 8 Councillor Cherie Dalley said the awards set out to showcase talented local designers and the quality of work they have contributed for the benefit of the area and its residents.
She said the community had many examples of inspired and creative designs, ranging from small businesses and buildings to urban areas, parks, and master-planned communities.
Cr Dalley added that the best designs were not necessarily the most expensive, but the talent to devise them was priceless.
The awards will provide an avenue to recognise and acknowledge some of the best examples of designer excellence the community has to offer.
The event – which has been the subject of media coverage and flyer printing – has won the support of several major local organisations, including gold sponsor Griffith University at Logan, Naturform, Urbis, CBP Lawyers, and Logan’s Economic Development office.
Cr Dalley said the industry response to the awards had been fantastic.
The inaugural Logan Urban Design Award winners will be announced at a gala event on October 8th.
