Kids urged to take part in Festivals school holiday fun

Slacks Creek children will have a busy programme of events to attend during the coming school holidays.

Queensland's Logan City Council has put together in excess of 140 low-cost and free children’s activities in conjunction with its ImagiNation Children’s Festival.

Councillor Laurie Smith said event Calendars will be full of action-packed ideas aimed specifically at children up to 12 years old.

She said there is something planned for each day of the September school holidays, including the use of both outdoor and indoor venues.

Events are designed to meet two briefs they must be fun for youngsters, and affordable or free to ensure families from all areas are able to take part.

The diverse programme will feature everything from the Mud Play event to be held at Logan River Parklands, to screen-based, digital activities and artistic full colour printing projects.

Encouraging children to participate in more `green time’ than `screen time’ during the holidays is the main aim of the Nature Play Programme, run by Logan Council.

Accessible and imaginative activities are what children should be prepared to enjoy at the Festival, said the councilor, adding that the city’s many bush trails, parks and other wildlife refuges provide plenty of areas to be explored.

The ImagiNation Children’s Festival will be held from this Saturday, September 17, until October 1, and bookings are required.
