Event to offer support to women in Slacks Creek

An inaugural fashion event that supports women immigrants and those from culturally diverse backgrounds is available to attend for those in the Slacks Creek area.

As a fundraising exercise, African excellence will form the highlight of the Women’s Power of Inspiration Inaugural Fashion Gala, by showcasing elegant clothing on a catwalk, with dinner and convivial entertainment as part of the package.

The evening is supporting the not-for-profit organisation, Women’s Power of Inspiration. Run by volunteers, the reach is local, supporting culturally diverse and immigrant women. Using craft, English language support and providing help with employment resources, the aim is to help these women feel less marginalised and able to join in within the community. Strengthening community ties also means that social isolation is addressed.

The Founder and Director, Esperance, is a passionate advocate of knitting, sewing and crochet, so this is often used as a kind of therapy within sessions, enabling women to share stories through creativity while gaining a useful, possibly marketable, skill.

Local brochure printing will enable the organisation to highlight events that will be of interest to like-minded people within the community.

The Women’s Power of Inspiration Inaugural Fashion Gala will take place on Saturday, 23 March, from 6pm until 9pm. The venue can be located at 123 Paradise Road, Slacks Creek, QLD 4127. Tickets cost from $35.
