Residents of Slacks Creek, Queensland, will be among thousands of people to benefit from the establishment of a major sports facility planned for Logan City.
The project moved closer to fruition recently when revision of the concept plan was completed and the council finalised the preferred venue management option.
A Logan City Council spokesman has described the design as a high level concept that will include a playing field created to National Rugby League standards, plus offices, training facilities and change rooms. There will also be four playing fields for use by the community.
According to Councillor Russell Lutton, who is also chairman of the Sports and Community Services Committee, more detailed work on the design would be possible now that the revised concept had been finalised.
He said detailed planning by an internal management group would now be possible, ensuring the council's vision for the site could actually be delivered.
The next step would be to release the final detailed plan, which was something Cr Lutton said he was looking forward to publicising.
When considering management options, Cr Lutton said keeping the main field at an elite standard was a major priority.
Expressions of interest have been called from the community's club and private sectors to undertake the maintenance, operation and management of the entire site, he said.
Printing services are expected to be kept busy as designers work on the final plans, which it is hoped will be completed within the next few months, according to Cr Lutton.
