Creative students art on show in Logan City

The artistic talent of Logan City school students is currently being showcased at the Logan Art Gallery’s annual Artwaves exhibition.

The show is in its 21st year and is the largest of its kind to be held in the area.

The event aims to demonstrate the wealth of imagination and creativity present in the city and its surrounding areas. This year, it will feature nearly 150 pieces from 29 schools in and around Logan City, from Slacks Creek and Springwood in the north to Beenleigh in the south.

Students from Years 8 to 12 were invited to submit pieces for acceptance into the exhibition. A panel of expert judges then selected up to five from each participating school to put on display. The works were judged on innovation, creativity and the use of cutting-edge techniques.

The diversity of entries has been identified as a key point of interest as students combined a wide range of subject matters with a selection of mediums.

The lives of the teenage students have been reflected well in the works, with topics varying from social media to homelessness. Printing companies often get involved with art events in the city, with gallery guests benefiting from printed Brochures and informative Flyers.

Members of the community are being encouraged to visit the Artwaves display before it ends on November 9 to support the artistic endeavours of Logan City’s talented student population. The gallery is open 10:00am to 5:00pm from Tuesday to Saturday.
