Eight young female students from across Logan City, including Slacks Creek, will soon receive financial help to achieve their goals, as local businesses and the Logan City Council have combined to offer bursaries to eligible students.
The students are from suburbs across the municipality, with two each from Slacks Creek and Loganlea and one each from Cornubia, Jimboomba, Springwood and Glenlogan. Each recipient has received a $5,000 bursary to assist with studies.
The applicants participated in a rigorous selection method, and a rating of cultural, community and academic and achievements formed part of the process. The evaluation also included considering exceptional circumstances that may make it difficult for a family to support university study financially.
The council were proud to partner with local businesses for the 2022 bursary programme. T2 Electrical and Data, Star Carpentry, Doval Constructions, Aligned Management, Alford Plumbing and Gas and SABE Services Group contributed financially.

The council also awarded two sporting bursaries of $5,000 for 2022. The Game On for Women bursary program started in 2019 and has continued to promote women and girls' involvement in sports across the City of Logan. The council believes that sport plays a large part in the community and encourages a healthy and active lifestyle.
The Game On for Women bursary is an initiative of the Brisbane Lions FC, the Queensland Government and Logan City Council.Get a Free Quote for Business Cards
