Funds needed to help unloved animals

Young pet owners from Milton are being encouraged to spend the night with their furry friends to help raise money for animal welfare.

Out With The Dogs is a major annual fundraiser for the Queensland branch of the Animal Welfare League, and takes place in November.

Children and their parents are encouraged to camp out in their backyard with their dogs and find people to sponsor them for the night. This year, cat owners can also join in by having a sleepover inside with their feline companions.

Families can hold their own camp or get together with friends or relatives and have a joint night under canvas.

Poster printing is a good, low-cost way to advertise a fundraising effort and youngsters could ask local businesses to put up a poster for them, or ask their parents to display a poster at work. Participants will also receive a camper's pack to help them with their fundraising.

Money raised will be used by the League to fund their shelters for abandoned animals throughout Queensland, which deal with more than 10,000 animals each year, and to help re-home dogs and cats.

The top fundraisers stand to win prizes including a holiday in the South Pacific, movie tickets, and meal vouchers.

Out With The Dogs takes place on Saturday, November 29th. For more information, visit the Animal Welfare League website.
