Fortitude Valley will welcome an American musical duo later this year.
American two-piece The Other Favorites, which consists of Josh Turner and Carson McKee, will be performing, ably supported by another US artist, Reina del Cid. Despite their young age, Turner and McKee have been working with one another for 14 years, after meeting in a talent show during the 8th grade. While their early musical career saw them performing mostly in North Carolina, the duo is now based in Brooklyn, New York, and the pair have taken to the stage both nationally and internationally.
The Other Favorites rose to fame by recording tracks and using the popular platform YouTube to host videos. In 2007, one of the songs posted, “Wagon Wheel”, secured the duo an online following. While they were attending university, the pair released their debut album “Novelty” independently in 2011.

To date, the band have released three albums, two in the studio and one featuring a live performance at London’s Bush Hall, capturing a complex acoustic guitar sound, two-part harmonies, and diverse musical influences.
The Other Favorites, supported by Reina del Cid, will play at the Brightside Brisbane on 27 Warner St in Fortitude Valley, Queensland on Sunday, October 10 from 7pm until 10pm.
