Project supports unique pathways to screen success

Screen Queensland, which is based in Newstead, near Fortitude Valley, is encouraging film makers to explore new pathways through an initiative entitled Proof of Concept.

The new initiative leads the way in Australia and involves an investment into four rather unique projects, all of which are spearheading a move towards innovative ways for developing films and building audience and market interest.

Acting CEO of Screen Queensland, Jo Dillion explained that Proof of Concept enables the organisation to recognise and support ground-breaking work by filmmakers. She added:

“As traditional models continue to be disrupted, it’s important as an industry that we support change-makers as they navigate new ways of finding and building audiences, securing finance and selling projects.”

Brisbane distributor and producer Danielle Redford will show the value of digital audio-based platforms for use in boosting viewers for screen stories through the production of podcast series ‘Beyond Strange Lands’ and ‘From Her Rib’ for Amazon’s Audible.

The Proof of Concept initiative will also support two other projects including Acropolisworld and Inferno. Print shops are often used by those in the film making industry, with eye-catching Posters often required.

Production of the projects will begin soon and is expected to be finalised in 2020, in preparation for launch to a number of target markets which will hopefully lead to success as a series or feature film.
