Perth to mark Australia Day in the air and on the water

There will be things to see in the air and on the water in central Perth this Australia Day as the city celebrates with its grand Skyworks event.

Perth lays claim to the biggest Australia Day event in the country with events taking place from 7am to 8.30pm on Saturday January 26th. A number of events are scheduled, ranging from citizenship ceremonies to family movies.

Three major events will draw Bellevue residents into the central city. The first will take place in the air with an show starting at 3.30pm which features vintage aircraft and a giant Australian flag towed behind a helicopter. On the water, starting at 5pm there will be a regatta featuring a sea plane landing, power dinghy racing and a water-ski team. The day’s finale will be a fireworks display starting at 8.30pm and lasting 30 minutes. It will be accompanied by a laser and water show with fountains acting as screens for brightly coloured lasers.

Each of the main events would make a great opportunity for photographic enthusiasts. Outstanding photographs can be printed by a professional printing company to go into a frame, coffee table book or even to make cards to send to friends and family. Digital versions of any photos taken on the day can also be entered in the Skyworks Photo Competition, which is open for entries until Friday February 15th.

As well as the scheduled events, there will be several picnic areas available for families to relax and enjoy a meal together at Kings Park and Langley Park.
